BUILDING A BUSINESS WITH NO BLUEPRINT AND A BABY IN TOW

TL;DR: Starting a business while raising a tiny human? It’s not for the faint of heart — but it might be the most meaningful (and chaotic) thing we’ve ever done.
There are no clean lines when you’re building something new.
No colour-coded roadmap.
No perfect plan with “insert child here” marked in the margins.
Wet Paint Society started in the middle of the mess — newborn diapers, 3 a.m. brainstorms, and the big, burning hope that we could create something that mattered.
We didn’t wait until things were quiet.
We didn’t wait until we had a perfect offer.
We didn’t wait at all.
We started the way most entrepreneurs do: with a blurry vision, a giant to-do list, and a very real baby on our hip.
And if you’re in that space too — building something while raising someone — here’s what we’ve learned:
you’re not behind.
Some people launch with funding and followers. Some people launch with faith and fumes. Either way, it’s valid. Starting small is not a flaw — it’s the foundation.
consistency > intensity.
We don’t work 12-hour days. We don’t have childcare every day. But we do show up — one email, one painting, one blog post at a time. Progress is progress, even in tiny toddler-sized steps.
alignment is the real flex.
It’s easy to chase what looks good online. But we’ve learned that joy lives in doing what feels right offline — at the kitchen table, in between giggles and spit-up, when no one else is watching.
Right now, we’re still in the early days.
No wedding bookings yet.
Just a real desire to paint love stories live, to create heirlooms with heart, and to build something our daughter can look back on and say, “they really did that.”
And even though we don’t have it all figured out?
We know we’re on the right path.
Because we’re not just growing a business — we’re growing with it.
