FIXING OUR MONEY MINDSET (BECAUSE PRETTY INVOICES DON’T PAY THEMSELVES)

TL;DR: Running a business means facing your beliefs about money — and sometimes unlearning them completely. Here’s what we’ve learned about shifting from survival mode to sustainable growth.

Let’s be real: the creative industry isn’t always known for financial clarity.

Pricing can feel awkward. Talking about money can feel icky.

And for a lot of us? The default mindset is: just get by.

But if you’re building a real business — something that supports your life, your family, and your long-term goals — you have to face it.

The way you think about money matters.

Here’s what we’ve been learning (and unlearning):

1. CHARGING MORE ISN’T GREED — IT’S STEWARDSHIP

You can’t do your best work if you’re constantly burnt out and underpaid.

Higher prices = margin = peace = sustainability.

The goal is not to be affordable for everyone. The goal is to serve well and survive doing it.

2. SCARCITY MINDSET KEEPS YOU SMALL

Thoughts like “what if no one books?” or “I’m not ready to raise my rates” sneak in fast. But scarcity doesn’t build strong businesses — clarity does. Know your numbers. Set your rates accordingly. Show up with confidence.

3. YOU DON’T HAVE TO HAVE IT ALL FIGURED OUT

You can grow your money mindset one decision at a time. One budget at a time. One bold quote at a time. The more you practice, the more normal it feels.

We’re still learning. Still refining. Still growing into a version of this business that’s profitable and peaceful.
