RAISING A CREATIVE KID (WHILE BUILDING A CREATIVE LIFE)

TL;DR: Our daughter just turned one, and we’re raising her in the middle of our business, our dreams, and our daily chaos. Here’s what we’re learning about creativity, family, and legacy.

We don’t know if she’ll grow up to be an artist.

But we do know this:

She’s already surrounded by creativity.

There are brushes in the kitchen.

Notebooks on every surface.

Conversations about colours and ideas and “what if we tried…” happening at all hours of the day.

We’re raising a child inside a creative life. And honestly? It’s messy. It’s beautiful. It’s us.

Here’s what we’re learning along the way:

1. CREATIVITY IS CAUGHT, NOT TAUGHT

She sees us make things — even when we’re tired.

She watches us talk through ideas.

She hears us say, “that didn’t work, but I’m going to try again.”

That’s creative thinking in action.

2. STRUCTURE MAKES SPACE FOR SPARK

We’re learning to create rhythm, not rigid schedules.

To leave space for wonder, play, and rest — because good ideas need breathing room.

3. THE WORK IS PART OF THE LEGACY

We’re not building this business despite being parents.

We’re building it because we’re parents.

Because we want her to see what it looks like to dream with discipline.

To create with courage.

To make something that matters.

She might not remember these early days, but we will.

The paint-splattered floors.

The late-night brainstorms.

The way she lights up when she creates alongside us.

This is our version of passing it on.

Not just the art — but the spirit of it.
